It’s been a whiiile since I shared what my vitamins and supplements look like now. I figured I should update you since there have been big changes in my life. First, I know now that I have fibromyalgia and osteopenia, so a lot of what I do is dictated by that. For example – I shouldn’t have caffeine (decreases bone density), but I kinda do because I suck, I just limit it. But I eat to and take supplements to support these conditions. Secondly, I am vegan now! So that changes a lot as well – ie I no longer take fish oil even though I used to benefit greatly from it.
My Vitamins and Supplements
In the morning, I take three pills. I take a B12 supplement, calcium + vitamin D, and birth control. The B12 is because as a vegan, I don’t get the most common sources of B12 (meat, fish, poultry, eggs, and dairy products). It is mostly in animal products. So I supplement with B12. I use from amazon, but I only take it every 2-3 days since it is such a high dose. Everyone will feel differently on it. I take calcium + vitamin D to help with my bone density and joints. I have osteopenia, which is why I broke my foot. Osteopenia is a decreased level of bone density (stage before osteoporosis), so the calcium + vitamin D help. Not to mention vitamin D helps with overall moods and helps the prevention of depression! So how do I have osteopenia at such a young age, you ask? Well, I went without a period for about 3.5 years. The lack of estrogen messed up my bone density, and yeah. I tried to avoid taking birth control to regulate my period for the longest time, but once my health started to deteriorate and I broke my foot, I agreed to take birth control. I’ve been open with my past with period loss before – feel free to contact me if you have questions about that.
I used to use whey protein quite often, but since being vegan I don’t supplement with protein powder often. I do use Nuzest plant protein on occasion, but not to the same extent. I have a review of all the protein powder I’ve tried here. I use protein powder in some of my healthy baking recipes too!
Before my workouts, I sometimes take a preworkout. This is used for an energy boost and intense focus during a workout. I try to limit my caffeine intake to just Cellucor’s C4 Extreme a few times a week, since I’m caffeine sensitive. But I love how I feel from using C4 – the focus in the gym is fantastic. I also looooove the flavors! I’ve tried every flavor, and they don’t disappoint. My favorites are pineapple and pink lemonade :) – the only non-vegan one is the orange creamsicle since it contains dairy.
Intra and post workout, I take either BCAAs or Alpha Amino, both by Cellucor. Alpha Amino is the same as the BCAAs, but with added alpha-amino complex and hydration complex. This helps increase endurance during a workout, promotes muscle growth, and reduces soreness after a workout. Overall, it aids in recovery which I need a LOT of. Since having fibromyalgia, it’s a lot more difficult for me to recover. Not only that, but sometimes a simple workout can knock me out for 2-3 days. Or sometimes I can just not workout and still wake up feeling like a van of people got out and beat me up in the middle of the night then ran me over with their van on the way out. So Alpha Aminos are my favorite favorite supplement if I had to choose just one. I love them more since I’ve picked up cycling, since cycling is an endurance sport and you can ride for hours at a time. It helps with hydration and keeping the body going without feeling “broken” in the midst of a ride. Again, the flavors of these are spot on and delicious. Lemon lime is my favorite.
It’s pretty obvious I love the quality of products from cellucor. The flavors are ALWAYS spot on. And the effects and results I experience from their products are great. To get 25% off and free shipping every purchase, use the discount code “PBEECHIE” on cellucor.com! I’m pretty certain you won’t be let down by their products. While I don’t use the protein powders any more, they now have many flavors of whey protein, casein protein, and mass gainer that a lot of people may be interested in.
